I have a Pro Team 185 aluminum. The eyelet snapped on me loading it the other night. Had to tie the strap around trolling motor to get home. Anyone know who has one of these to weld back on to the boat???

Are you talking about the bow eye on the boat? I don't know how they are fastened on a aluminum boat but, I would think that they are through bolted much like on fiberglass. I have fiberglass and discovered last weekend that mine was loose. Turned out that the nuts, which should be SS, had rusted. I got the top nut off but had to cut the bottom part of the U off. Of course my boat is going on 20 yrs old and I should have checked the condition of the nuts long ago. Bass Pro carries a selection of the bow eyes. The Garland store had the standard 2 bolt and also 2 different single bolt styles.

some alum. boat mfg. did weld the bow eye onto the keel.
which is not a good idea.

my suggestion would be to grind it off flat. and buy a u bolt bow eye. drill the holes and use silicone and mount it. This will last alot longer and be a ton stronger than the welded version.

Will I need blocking on the inside of the keel? Because I could do all that myself. I just dont know how to weld aluminum. And yes it is welded. Bought it that way from Tracker Marine, @BPS in Grapevine.

shouldn't need anything. just go to either walmart, or wherever you can find the ubolt boweye. be sure to get the one that has two pieces of steel and the nuts. it should be a kit. one piece of steel on each side of the keel. use lockwashers and locktight or threadlocking nuts so they don't get loose.

pretty simple thing to do.

BPS has the ubolt style. It comes with a fairly decent backer plate.
