I am thinking of going to Bastrop park one of these weekends. I generally don't paddle very far in my little inflatable, I'm just wondering if there's any noticeable difference in fishing quality launching from the either the south or the north park? I'm not asking for anyone's spots, just if it matters which end of the lake I focus on?

Warm water outlet is north so slightly warmer water if generating. Lots of grass. Timber in the north coves.

South has tons of grass.

We fish north most of the time.

I never thought about this. If you are in an inflatable, where you launch would be important! 99% of the time, We put in at North Shore, but we are in a boat. When the fish are biting, we generally catch them all over. We went Saturday and I got skunked. Yea, Ray!

There are good spots near both ramps. If you are going in an inflatable, I would go out of whatever ramp is more protected from the wind. Which, IMO, is usually the north ramp.

To me, Bastrop has 2 wind directions, north and south. In the Spring/Summer, it is out of the south and in the Fall/Winter, it is from the north. Of course, this is not set in stone but what is about fishing? If I was a kayaker, I would always want the wind at my back on my way back to the ramp.

Let me save you some headach, fishing is horrible on bastrop. I fished there 3 days fri-sun and had only 4 fish over 14 inches, 12 under that and that's two of us. Our club (21) fished it sat-sun 10 pounds was 1st place. Big bass was .......2.4lbs.
