I've caught several rods and reels over the years. My best "catch" was an All Star and Ambassador reel. I cleaned it up and it worked for a little while.

It would suck to lose a $1k rod and reel, been there. But the truth is this isn’t a high dollar set up, but it’s a good one. More than likely the person that loses a $1k setup can afford to replace it. Someone that loses one like I caught maybe can’t. That’s why I’m trying to find the owner.

Jesus... seriously? $700 for a rod???? roflmao

I like having nice gear too and have multiple $200-$400 rods, but $700 is a lot of money to just toss into the lake or risk getting broken barf

Come on dk! There's "our" money. Jerry Jones money. And then there's Ken A money! LOL! If ya got it...spend it! If I had it I'd buy the best I could afford to buy too. Which is what I do now! It's just on the "our" money budget! I hope he found your combo Ken! On any budget it sucks to drop one in the lake.

You goober. roflmao

Yes $1400 is a lot of money for a rod & reel but I am SURE you have spent more than that on a Gibson Les Paul

My son went fishing with a buddy of mine at Lake Fork. He asked what he needed to bring and my buddy said nothing. Now this buddy of mine is all about Steez and G-Loomis. Its all he fishes. Probably $1000-1200 rigs. Me, not so much. Anyhow, when he got back, his first words were "OMG" you can feel everything with Steves poles. They are so light and smooth blah blah blah. When I told him how much they cost, he could not believe it. Why would someone pay that kind of money for a fishing pole. I said maybe you should fish with Steve from now on. Well he does every chance he gets.

You asked and answered your own question...

Why would someone pay that kind of money for a fishing pole?
1. "OMG" you can feel everything
2. They are so light and smooth blah blah blah.

Maybe just me, but those sound like the kind of experiences I want to have on my day out on the water.

Now to find that same "feeling" and almost same lightweight gear in an affordable price is what some seek out. cheers

Everyone's idea (and budget) of affordable is different just as some peoples budget is a $20K boat and others are $100K but each of them have the same fun when they get to the lake! rock
