I am also running airmar transducers which really help. I knew it!! LOL I'm running a helix 12 G3N with the Humminbird HW transducer. It's great but not that sharp. Do you know which model transducer you have? I'm would like to know also Might be worth getting for my solix 15

I posted some comparison screen shots on another forum with the Humminbird dual spectrum HW/airmar 165hw http://www.bbcboards.net/showthread.php?t=1002875

That makes sense. I’m very satisfied with the humminbird HW transducer but I would love to have the lower frequency (90-140khz).

The TM 150 is a great transducer. Probably the their most popular one. The actual frequency range is 95-155khz, I usually just run it up to 140 to try and cut down on the cross talk. It has a good bit more coverage than the HW transducers, when I have them both running it is really noticable.

Awesome screen shots! Thanks for the report and mentioning my thumpers. It’s always nice to hear about folks having a fun day catching while thumping with one of my thumpers.

fished Saturday and Monday. Water temps ranged from 58 at McCown to 53 above Hamm Creek. Fished the same areas i had success last month with 20" + fish but they have been replaced by the 2 year old fish (14-17"). Find the main river channel and they are suspended over the main river channel and intersecting creek channels, channel and river edges and adjacent flats, channels are the areas to key in on whether their creek or main river channels. The 2 year olds are all over the lake and huge schools. It seems every striper stocked in 2018 survived lol. Birds are constantly working but mostly smaller fish. There are bigger fish but you have to be patient and weed through the 2 year olds to find em. Deadsticking is in full swing.

I was also out there on Monday and had the same experience as you. I probably saw you and didn't know it. I was throwing a 3.75" Rage Swimmer with a slow retrieve and they were whacking it hard. I think the slower speed was getting it down below the smaller ones which lead to a better day with quality.

I went out on thrusday and chased birds from about 930 to almost 4 o'clock. Found and caught fish from just south of the bridge all the way to bear creek. These were smaller fish between 15 and 17 inches and were up on the flats schooling. Most all were caught slow rolling an Arig and 1oz white jig head and pearl colored sassy shad. I did manage 1 box fish that was 24" and had another strip all the line off a mid weight spinner I was using.

Was out there yesterday from about 9:30 to 2, chased the birds around the entire time. Seems like for all the shad that were up top the top water bite would be on but I couldn’t catch a single one on top water. Got on some nice ones on McCown flats and then they were gone! Would pick a couple or 3 off here and there, found the birds again up north of the Katy bridge by the right outside of bear creek and would pick a few more off. Only caught one dead sticking a 5” pearl shad with a white jig head. Rest were caught on RSR slabs, chartreuse and white, bouncing off the bottom. Used the 1/2 ounce then switched over to the 2 ounce and seemed to do a little better. Saw some cormorants roosting in the trees, decided to do a little splat fishing it didn’t do any good. Had one striper right around the 24” mark, the rest were about 15-18”.

On the flip side, the loofers bend state park boat ramp is getting a tad low. Wasn’t bad launching but had to creep out with the boat to keep from spinning the tires to much.

Okay TFFers! What am I looking at here? This is on Whitney, up by the Katy bridge. A thousand birds around. Dropped down the entire water column with swim baits, slabs, threw top water, nothing! ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2020/12/full-93280-78812-7e499796_af1d_4f8d_8f42_2ed95e6fa841.jpeg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2020/12/full-93280-78813-39a7c6e9_b712_4655_9bcc_a1da157c05ba.jpeg)
