For those that own Hobie Kayaks, which cart do you use or do you use Boondox?
I was using a Hobie Heavy Duty Cart on my first Hobie Pro Angler 12 which I sold a few years ago.
I recently bought another Hobie Pro Angler 12 and have been using a C-Tug cart but I am not really happy with the setup. I am thinking about buying another Hobie Cart but thought I would see what everyone else is using for their Hobie kayaks.

I bought a used PA14 (thanks Mike for taking such good care of her) and she came with Boondox
I must say that they have come in very handy multiple times if launching from a remote location with no boat ramp.
I haven’t seen or felt any damage to the kayak with the Boondox system.

OP: Im on my second PA and my son has an Outback. All have Boondox landing gear and none have experienced any issues at all.

I used a C-Tug for about half a season and I have no desire to return to it. The convenience of the Boondox stops me from doing something stupid (i.e.: belly dragging up a concrete ramp) and allows me to load / unload in the parking lot without competing for ramp space.

I kept the C-Tug for the rare instance where I need to maneuver rough ground. However, I almost always use ramps and hard banks and the C-Tug is just taking up space in the garage.

Come to think of it... I will sell my C-Tug to someone if interested (send me a PM). It's only been used about 10 times.

If you are at a boat ramp with the Boondox, do you just drop the wheels while the kayak is floating in the water, grab the bow handle and walk it out and up the boat ramp?

That's one way to do it (when the water isn't too cold)

I'm a big fan of Boondox. Main thing is don't use it in rough areas especially for a heavier kayak. If you drag your kayak over pot holes at ramps, rocky terrain, etc while using Boondox you'll probably end up with a cracked kayak eventually. After all the backing plate is stainless steel. Stainless steel vs. plastic= cracked plastic when put in stress scenarios. If you don't launch at a ramp or similar smooth surface I would say Boondox is not the way to go.

This is exactly what I do in warm (and warmish) weather.

If it's very cold, I use a ramp with a launching pier. I drop the wheels and loop a short section of 550 cord to the front handle. This allows me to walk the kayak to the bank without getting wet.
