What is a good low tide around Galveston? I see low tides that say -0.3 or -0.4 but it seems like high tides are always bigger numbers.

Any help would be appreciated.

Low tides will be expressed as a smaller, or even a negative number. When tides fall below the average low watermark it's a negative number. Tides that are at the highest, above the average watermark, are read on the Positive side. As far as a Good Low Tide......you got me there. Never heard of a good low tide. I would say this tho......during oyster season a low low tide would be good! Then folks can walk out to some reefs and pick up a bucket of them.

Thank you V-bottom - what I mean by a good low tide is one with good movement, not one that takes all dang day. I really like to fish the bayous with reeds on both sides with on a good outgoing tide.

That's a good question -- I've always assumed that if the difference between the two numbers was larger, the tidal flow/currnet would be higher. I've never actually checked if that's the right answer though
