In talking with a few of my fishing buddies it seems the definition of a creek bend and/or channel swing can be filed under "how each person interprets" a bend or swing and where it is located in relation to the main lake or creek. So what is your interpretation?

In the first photo below you see where the feeder creek (dotted blue line) comes off of the main creek/river channel and makes a hard right hand bend/turn. But if you look at the main river channel it makes several hard twists and turns. I will tell you that this is at the mouth of a big creek so towards the main lake. So would this be your definition of telling someone you fished a creek bend and/or channel swing?

In the second photo, it is further towards the back of the creek and you see where the feeder creek doesn't really make a hard bend/turn it more or less veers and butts up against a ledge. Would this be your definition of fishing a creek bend and/or channel swing?

My interpretation has always been a swing ‘swings’ up against/into the bank or some type of structure whereas a bend is a prominent bend in the creek. That said, I suppose many times they can be the same but not always. I’m curious to hear others takes on this as well

A bend is a turn
A swing is veering off center

It is open for interpretation. Swing, bend, drop off, edge, turn...

The good news is that fish can't read and they really don't care what we call it. wink

Is the 2nd pic what some might call a drain or a ditch?

Drains feed channels, so no. It's a creek channel with a couple drains

The closest thing that fits the description in the top pic is the 2 30' spots just above the 21' hump in the bottom of the pic IMO.
