I am wanting to try this technique this winter for striper. When is the right time to start? I am going to Texoma next weekend and was wondering if it is still too early or not? What would you guys try as far as artificial baits this time of the year?

Water temps need to be in the mid 50's for the beginning of the best bite. Fish will head toward creeks cuz they are fattening up for the spawn and this is where the bait concentrates due to warmer water temps. When going to Texoma with no knowledge of where to fish, ask a black bass fisherman as they find stripes up shallow a lot this time of year. There will be several of the big T gurus chime in with up to the minute intel.

Something about Dead Sticking and Paint Drying which go hand in hand for me.. Give me swimbait wind blown pocket hook up on overs.. Find the bait you'll find fish.. I've seen guide boats out drifting doing some version i'm sure of DeadSticking with there thumpers and there catching lot's of fish.. I just have to keep moving .. I would suggest when you hook up as fish gets to boat have someone drop down. The school does get pulled to you at times depending on water depth.. That would be my version of dead sticking smile...

Several guys are reporting that deadsticking is working now on Texoma.
1/2 oz to 1 1/2 oz jigheads with white chartreuse or pink flukes. Thumping helps keep fish under your boat longer also. Check out my website or Facebook for more info on thumping and my thumpers.
