This thing looks stupid but my wife bought 2 of them, they install in about 10 minutes, and they work great! Only need one little piece of toilet paper to dry off. We have cut back So much on toilet paper the thing probably already paid for itself.

Is it effective on the clay-like logs?

God is great, beer is good, people are crazy.

And greedily devour the treacherous bait.

You can make it as soft or as power wash as you want So yes, it gets out the clay, AKA Mud Butt

If that malfunctioned and hit me on a cold morning, I'd be like a bug on a windshield against the opposite wall

It looks so spick and span clean, all shiny with fresh clean water...etc.

However, that water-spray apparatus is right in the line of fire. In reality it would be completely caked with residue and/or violently blown out of there before ever getting to break-even.

I’ve had mine for over a year now and it cleans like now other. Also the sprayer is actual higher up and when you turn it on the tube is pushed down so it’s not in the line of fire.
