6-8 poles is ridiculous; however, if he was camped out, I would have worked the other side of the pond. Typically is if it's a small pond and someone is already there, I move on or start on the other side and follow behind them.

I grew up fishing those ponds. The north end near campbell has access to better bass cover. I used to do pretty well in the north pond on the south bank and north bank, but the sides were just too shallow. Have they done any work to dig em out more? The residents in the area tended to be a-holes when I fished there, always going on about it being for ducks and not fisherman.

Skinny cat like that hasn't eaten well. Probably a distinct lack of bait fish. Yeah, the guy was an [censored] for taking up that much shore line. Yeah, you were a bit dickish crowding him. More importantly, catch any fish?

To me, taking up a chunk of pond shoreline with anything over 5 rods spread out seems excessive to me, and a bit rude.
However, instead of pushing "uncomfortableness," I'd still opt for the other side of the pond.
What's the point of getting bent out of shape about it? It's almost the equivalent of parking your "new" car "across" two parking spaces, but if it's done away from the store, where there is lots of spaces, so what.
We can get annoyed, but still enjoy our own experience and "space."
Addendum: If it's one of you "regular" ponds, and he is at your "go-to-regular" spot, I guess you have to just wait it out, or come another day.

Are the regulations different for a "community" pond? I thought Texas regulations limited us to no more than 2 poles?

Other than community lakes there is not a restriction statewide on the number of poles but rather you cannot exceed 100 hooks combined for each angler for all poles and lines. Of course different lakes may have more restrictive requirements. Legal Devices, Methods & Restrictions

Even if he had too many lines in the water, you saw them and decided to still fish there.
He was there first. D!©k or not, you should have moved on.
There are other ponds. Just so I'm clear here, because 'fishing etiquette' seems to be quite dynamic.. Let's say I'm fishing a pond, and I have only a single rod, and someone rolls up after I'm already fishing, 10 feet away from me, on a pond that has hundreds of feet of the bank to fish..He'd be the D!©k, correct?

How big is the pond? You didn’t say. Are there regulations? You didn’t say. I’m going on what you said. And yeah. It’s cool if he wants to fish as many rods as legal in a spread. Your description sounds like you showed up and started crowding him. If not, give more details or a map. You asked for feedback. If you don’t like it, don’t ask. Looking at Google maps the pond in question is less than 600 feet by 200 feet. Based on OP map the catfisher was using 1/2 of the entire pond but decided to also fish the area where the 2nd angler decided to fish. IMO that could be considered harassment in addition to fishing too many rods. Yeah, I used to work right down the road from these ponds and it wouldn't be any problem throwing a rock across it.. Moving to the opposite side of the pond wouldn't be an option, moving to the south pond might be, but as others have said, that might not be as good water to fish.
