Way better off just purchasing aftermarket.

mercury has rebuilt lower units an there is other rebuilders that offer warranty with there lowers. either is a much better choice.

Thanks for the input. Getting the aftermarket with a warranty seems like its probably the best option.

A lot depends on what particular engine you are running. Mercury 3 litre such as the ProXS will void warranty on SEI units. They should be fine on 2.5 Litre as long as you aren't running it in a high performance situation such as on a Bullet or Allison where you are running excessive prop to pad heights and/or surfacing propellers.

East Texas Outboard Rebuild right down the road from you. I used them about 6 years ago and was happy.

Or should I just buy a sei one? I bought one from sei and installed it myself. It was so easy and I saved thousands. So far it has worked perfectly but they do come with a 3 year no fault warranty. Definitely the way to go in my opinion.
