I heard his happen to other throughout the years but it happened to me yesterday while at Park Prairie ramp. The buzzards got on my truck and between the windshield and trifold bed cover they did at least $1500 in damage which does not include the labor. A buddy of mine told me that last week they got on his vehicle and did some damage as well. The new management staff is using an air horn to try to keep them away when they see them there. In my discussion with one of the staff before I noticed any damage, they said that people will the dumpster lid partially open or trash in the parking lot. That was only the second time I parked at that ramp in several years. I dont think the lid on the dumpster or lazy [censored] people leaving their trash is the main problem. Yesterday when I was pulling out of the ramp around 4:30, one of the cast netters pulled upon the bank just by the ramp and started cleaning a large amount of tilapia. Throwing heads and guts in the water right on the bank. No wonder those buzzards congregate there. Anyway just make sure your comprehensive insurance coverage is paid up. If the LCRA does not get a handle on the fish cleaning practices the problem will definitely continue. They do have signs warning of possible buzzard damage, but that's just one of their lawyers. I have been fishing there since 2005 with no issues until now.

What kind of vehicle? I have heard that some of the plastics are using a corn based oil product that tastes pretty good to a buzzard.

We had a customer that dropped off a pretty new Infinity Q 60 suv. It had a broken window so we taped it up to keep water out while we ordered the glass. That night a Raccoon got in it and DESTROYED the entire interior. There wasn’t a single leather panel or seat that wasn’t chewed to pieces. Between the exterior damage(mild) and the new interior damage($19,500ish), it was totaled.

They eat the weather-stripping and rubber seals.

Yep. This is the first for me. The nice lady at Park Prairie called me back and said the buzzards are getting really bad. She also said they are doing their best to keep them away. She also acknowledged the cast netters cleaning their fish right by the ramp is the main buzzard attraction. She said LCRA wont let them stop the cleaning of the tilapia because they are not allowed to be transported alive from the lake. Those fish are quite dead when they are cleaning them. I have watched them before knock them over the head when they take them out of their net. Besides they just throw them on the boat floor anyway. Its sure is a shame that people can contribute to the destruction of others people property without any consequences.

Last week they ate the wind shield wiper blades & cra%$ed all over the entire truck. This week they again cra%!ed all over the truck & tried to eat the spare trailer tire. You can also see the scratch marks in the truck bed cover & in places on the paint on the truck. I have not had a problem at the Oak Thicket ramp, but have heard it happens there as well...

It happened a couple of years ago in the parking lot at Martin Creek.

Not a problem that is isolated. In Tennessee the TWRA actually closed one of our ramps because of the buzzard problems.

Buzzards got me at Park Prairie about 8 years ago. It's been a problem for a long time. Way before the tilapia fisherman were there. I always launch at Oak Thicket these days.

They attacked my truck a few weeks ago ate some of the door and window molding but really chewed up the molding around the moonroof but worst of all the nail scratches on the roof and hood. The next time I go there I'll cover the cab and use a plastic bag tied to the antenna.

If you look closely, you'll probably see a bunch of tiny green bugs on the vehicles. Buzzards are actually eating those. Rubber seals and wiper blades are collateral damage.

Unfortunately they have been doing it for years and the management does nothing about it. Not only do they eat the rubber but they scratch the [censored] out of the vehicle while doing so.
I strictly use Oak Thicket ramp when going there because of this issue.

Oak Thicket can have that issue as posted above and the tilapia fisherman have been there since I have been going starting in 2004/2005. I am lucky they did not scratch the paint. but Im going to take another look so I get everything corrected. Not so sure if I agree with the bug explanation. I have never noticed any on my truck except smashed ones.. Also I dont think buzzards eat live stuff, but I could be wrong. I am ordering a truck cover. The lady at park told me she has seen a couple of vehicles with some sort of cover on them. Not to thrilled about having to use one but its a lot cheaper than the insurance deductible and the associated time getting damage corrected.
