I KNOW some of you KNOW more than me about this, and probably a LOT more than I do. So, this is my video starting from scratch knowledge, but showing (some of) the problems at the 380 Greenbelt Park. I would like to know what you know, and organize an effort - A REAL EFFORT - or be part of one I don't know about -- to get this thing fixed. It's just that simple, and we know how complicated that can be to say! If there are forces already at work, sign me up.

Great video!! Unfortunately the repairs will take a few million to make it right. About 7-8 years ago we had a really bad flood that wiped out the park, trails, restrooms, parking area, etc. Austin approved to make the repairs immediately just to have an even worse flood take out the park again. That flood brought a majority of the driftwood. Each and every flood brings in even more flooded timber and it continues to block up the area. The recent clearing of the wood you see now is because the wood was touching the bridge. DOT said that was a NO NO and demanded it be cleared. Plus that driftwood is so thick, when it floods, the water almost backs up to 380. Again, DOT said that was a big no.

As of now, Austin will not flip the bill to make any further improvements to that park in the near future. It is permanently closed while funds are allocated to other areas for flood prevention. I have even inquired about a team of people coming out with chainsaws and volunteering to work on the driftwood blockages and any improvements that may help the opening of the park. All has fallen on deaf ears.

This area was my favorite place to paddle. I could catch tons of fish between here and Lewisville Lake. Lots of wildlife. Kids and I went to the 428 park last Saturday and they will not even let you ride bikes south of 428. Only North.

Every year I call Clear Creek Natural Heritage Center and ask if they have any updates on improvements. Unfortunately it is always the same answer. They are your best resource for contacts on escalating this matter. I am sure 2021 will not happen as it will continue to be the year of COVID, government transitions, etc.

Actually, I guess it was last year when the river quit going down the river and now crosses the 380 Park parking lot when it is overrunning. That is the new route of the Trinity River - across the parking lot. So the water now does back up past 380, and makes a 90-degree turn across the parking lot. Next follow-up is showing the TPWD park which (from a distance) looks something like a movie set from "Escape from New York."
Yes, the 428 trail to the south is closed, meaning Greenbelt is, what, 50-percent unusable now? The side effects of this are much larger, in my opinion, than the actual problem ... kind of like a chain reaction until FUBAR.

The fishing used to be really good up that way. I really hope they get it fixed as I just got a kayak and would really like to explore that area.
