Finally finishing up with tournament season and back to some guide trips! Last couple were on LOP. I love that lake in the winter time. You would be hard pressed to find a lake in Texas with fatter black crappie IMO. Had a repeat client and they managed a respectable cooler of slabs on day one. I started where I usually find em this time of year and they weren't there at all! Made some moves and adjustments and fish started hitting the cooler at a good pace! Next day I had Bobby and his mother in from Louisiana and we started closer to where we finished up the day before and they had their 50 in the cooler with time to spare! Cleaned their fish and they treated me to a plate of boudin and potato salad! Man I sure miss my Louisiana groceries! Had a blast with both these groups and look forward to the next time! This time of year we're slinging em in the boat with 10-11' Jenko Kevin Rogers rods spooled with 12ln Floro and 20lb braid. I'm not a big braid fan but fishing deep in the winter especially hauling these big fish off gnarly trees it helps! We used 1/8 and 1/4 oz hand ties on Limits Tackle heads in shad color and purple and chart. I've got nothing left this month but have the first 2 weekends of Dec available and several weekdays I can fish as well.

So Slewfoot, glad to see y’all are back to guiding some...me an crappiexpress managed some good fishing over there when things were slow for most...just have to positively comment on your seasonal knowledge of the lake, during our guide trip earlier this year. I think everyone should fish with you, at least once in their life...just saying, you should never have an open date.
