Hi all: One thing I've always wanted to do is catch tripletail. I'm happy to drive anywhere on the coast to do so -- Port Isabel to Beaumont I'd like to know: * Best time to target -- I've heard spring, please correct me * Techniques? * Guides who have specific experience here -- I probably won't get too many shots, I'd love to find someone who does this regularly.

All questions I also have. Tripletail is at the top of my list of offshore fish to catch.
You get out of it what you put into it!

West Matagorda Bay.. They hang around buoy's, platforms etc. Free line some live shrimp or under a slip cork near vertical structures.. August is the best time to go

Triple tails have always been sort of bonus fish. You come across them, but while you're chasing something else. Good luck with your pursuit, there's not a finer eating fish that swims.

Yeah, I know they're a bit rare, but I'm trying to cross off bucket list stuff. We're looking at moving out of state in the next year or so, and I have some fish to catch

Give this guy a call. I was out in State waters snapper fishing with him last November and as we were running out and around we saw several tripletail. We did not target them. I don't know if he goes after them. http://fishingcharterspi.com/

You might give Derick a call @ Patriot Guide Service Port O’Connor Tx. I’ve fished with him plenty and caught Tripple tail with him, along with magnum mangrove snapper as well as Tarpon. We weren’t fishing specifically for them but as we were moving around we saw some floating debris and could see them when we pitched to them. I’m sure he can let you know when, how and what if you wanted to target that specific fish.

August is the best time to go They catch some in Sabine, but I don't know the time of the year? There is a gentleman in a big El Pescador boat that catches them in deep water in the hottest part of summer in West Matagorda - his wife catches them too.

Keep us updated if you do it. I've always wanted one too. Only ever seen one out, swam along the pier right where we were fishing, looked up at us and I swear shook his head no when we tossed baits at him. Swam calmly away.
