Going to lake Welsh for the first time on Wednesday. I've watched a few videos that shows how good things can be at the discharge but any suggestions on areas other than that? Just trying to narrow down whether it's better to start on the upper end or head towards the dam.

Lake Welch can be fun
Lots of dinks at the discharge usually, plus it's not cold enough for the discharge yet, IMO.
I would turn left out of the ramp

left is shallower and more grass and stumps. right is deeper, more reeds. the whole lake holds em and can be fished in a day

There were 4 or 5 sacks over 20lbs in the Tourney on Saturday and they all came from down South. The punching bite on the North end has not taken off yet. And there is no way in hell anyone can fish it in a day.

Be prepared to see the most grass you've most likely ever seen in a lake. When I was there Sunday they were not generating which definitely had them turned off at least on the North end of the lake. Basically just about any area on the lake you are going to find hydrilla to the surface in 13' of water or less. If you like to punch grass, you should have a blast. North end has more grass than the south end. If they are generating, definitely fish the areas in and around the discharge and upsize your bait and you can find some better fish.

Not sure how far off normal levels but I will say its dropped a good foot in the last month. Ramp is still fine but it's steep so take it easy getting out.

If you choose to go left from the ramp be careful, there are a lot of stumps under the water line that you can't see.

Can you fish every square inch of water in a day? Of course not. Can you start and fish the dam then the inlet then work your way to the north. Fishing big stretches of water as you go. Sure you can. To me that's fishing the whole lake in a day

They were chasing bait at the discharge Monday morning, couldn’t get a moving bait bite at all. Drug around a jig and managed 5-6 around 2.5-3lbs. C-rig will get you bit too. Don’t run on plane north of the ramp unless you know the lake. Big stumps just under water surface. I still idle that area.
