Good thing is that most people beat the shorelines or hit the same points and patches of standing timber one after another. The fish see a constant parade of lures in these spots. The key is to find the areas other guys aren’t beating to death. At least that’s my m.o. out there.

That looks like Lake Bastrop to me not Fayette. Maybe LBJ with the Power plant in the background!

To me one of the best lakes for #s of fish in Texas. That was a good trip.

How did the water look? Last time we were there it was definitely yellowish due to Algae Bloom/turnover.

Oh nice! I was the guy in the red and black z20 you were talking to that morning. At least I think that was you. I hit the grass and only caught 2
When I am not fishing I am thinking about fishing. And mostly what I should have done differently my last trip! #Brockstarama

She's just gonna get better. Best club tournament I ever had was the weekend after Thanksgiving. I won that year on a 3/16 oz pro blue spinnerbait. The guy in second said he lost a couple of giants flipping a jig. We used to kill them on Bandit 100's and 200's in shad patterns. Literally had to change out the hooks. Carolina rigs on points. Throw a buzzbait around any pads you find and you might get your arm broke. Good time to catch em just about any way you like this time of year.

Skeeter John the water did have a yellow/gold looking color to it and sometimes when you had a fish near the boat it looked like they were stirring up a cloud of that stuff.

Made the drive to Fayette this morning with girlfriend and found the same spot as the first post. Used sexy shad KVD 2.5 square bill and some lipless hard baits there and several other usual spots. Only got about 4 bass in first 3 hours. Circled back around to the first spot and switched to green pumpkin baby brush hog rigged Texas style with 1/8 ounce weight and hit the jackpot. 20+ fish within the next hour. The spot best for us was left side of the discharge about half way between the rock point and the buoy. Boat was in 17 feet of water and casted across the rock point. Water current helps works the bait along the point edge. Lost count of total fish for the day but wrist was very sore from setting the hook. Size was the problem for me with biggest just under 17”. Girlfriend asked “where’s the beef”.
Overall a fun day although headed to Fork for some beef. I’m sure there are big ones in Fayette but I don’t seem to catch many.

Finding big bass on Fayette has definitely been a challenge. Lots of chunky 2#ers available, but 4+#ers are not as abundant as they once were. Still a great #s lake. I spoke to the biologist for Fayette and he indicated they will be doing a creel survey out there this spring to ask questions and gather data. Sounds like the concerns about the netters has made it to their desk. Not sure what the next steps will be and I can't speak for them. Hopefully the new gate system will prevent some of the after hour shenanigans. I volunteered last year for the electro survey and catch rates were good, just no big ones. There is more grass coming back and maybe that will help.

If people take some of the smaller ones out and the grass comes back the size will blossom
I can backlash toilet paper.
