I heard it was not good to dry fire your pistol.

Get an airsoft gun and just shoot everything you can with it. Pretty soon you'll be hitting stuff without really even aiming.

I don’t think this effects modern firearms. It’s been recommended practice for police officers for at least the last 10 years to dry fire daily if possible.

Not only that...many military / police organizations use laser based training in their weapons. I've had the pleasure of running sims a few times with this. Great practice for those not wanting to run rounds or not have the ability to shoot at a range.

Not too bad if you have a snap cap or similar device for the firing pin to strike.

From the viewpoint of the firing pin, the laser cartridge is the functional equivalent of a primed case or a snap cap.

The firing pin hits the back of the laser cartridge. Even without it though, dry firing is not harmful to most modern double action pistols.

I've had students practice with a number of other projectile launchers. Variations in grip angle, weight, and sights prevent one from ever developing the same combination of speed and accuracy as the laser cartridge allows. Even shooting a Glock throws off most of my students' speed with the Sig. But practicing with the same gun for thousands of shots with the laser cartridge will build speed and accuracy for a given gun.

Once you're talking about split times well under 1 second, the subconscious is handling a lot of the tasks. Changing grip angle, weight, or sights much at all pulls the process back into the conscious handling and thinking realm and slows it all down to closer to a second with the split times.

Best way to practice indoors and out where you cant fire actual bullets is with a correct weight and size airgun. Eithe bb or plastic bb. They fit in the holster coreectly and you can practice drawing and firing.

Biggest obstacle to shooting well once you learn to obtain proper sight picture is to have the ability to not anticipate the recoil. Dry fire, lasers and such can help develop speed squiring target and trigger control, but not going to replace recoil anticipation, new ballgame when the flinch happens. Self defense maybe ok drill but if you want to drive tacks not much use , just my opinion

We need to stop bringing political and personal views of other members into every post.
