I see a lot of Jigs that have barb’s and raised shoulders on the hook for attaching plastics, if I’m going to tie crappie jigs, do I try to shave some of it off or just tie on top of it.

Just buy the jigheads with no collars. Makes it a bunch easier

You can use a pair of wire cutters and easily snip the collar completely off.
