I got over excited and bought a Terrova with I-pilot , Blue tooth . But not Link .
I had hoped to use the Humminbird and be able to follow contour lines but I'm guessing Link is the only way to make that work ?
Without Link can the fish finder control anything or am I limited to only using the built in transducer .
I think I didn't do enough research before purchasing the trolling motor .

Won't follow the contour. You can purchase the link separately if needed.

I just purchased a control head for my Ultrex but have not installed it yet. You have to have i-Link for the trolling motor to talk to the Humminbird.

For about $800 it can be upgraded to the link. It's very easy to do it's just a bit costly.

Very Simply the "link" allows you to control your trolling motor from your humminbird graph. Yes follow the contour is one option, another is go to a way point. I think you can record and follow tracks, and offset. There are probably more options, but the linked cable to your compatible humminbird allows more control.

you need link AND a lakemaster card etc to follow contour

terrova and ultera are electric pedals, I really never could get used to them. I resorted to using my remote all the time except when going into tight areas to get a snag.

Yes, have to also get Lakemaster. That LINK remote is heavy and hanging around your neck all day will be painful, it is for me. I'm looking into getting the micro remote.

You probably already know about it but you can also use the app on your phone to control the trolling motor . Just make sure you use the app for the trolling motor with link or non link . I have a non link Terrova and downloaded the link app by accident and of course couldn't figure out why they wouldn't pair .

Thanks . I didn't realize I could do an upgrade . Wish I had been better educated when I went to purchase the trolling motor from the start .

I thought about getting that app, then thought twice because I am quite sure my iPhone would end up in the bottom of the lake first day out. I have set several world records breaking and losing iPhones. I may be Apple's very favorite customer.

I have an Ulterra with link and saying the remote is heavy is an understatement. I mounted mine to my dash and its pretty much only used to stow and deploy. I use the micro remote clipped to a belt loop on my pants.
