 Mercury extended warranty question?

2017 Pro XS 200. In your opinion is the Platinum warranty coverage overkill or is the Gold warranty coverage not enough? Gold covers mechanical only while Platinum covers mechanical and electrical. Just wondering what would be a good direction to take without buying anything unnecessary. Just looking for your thoughts? Thanks.

I was told to get Platinum by my dealer, the extra cost was well worth it. Also, shop around as the prices can vary quite a bit.

While it wasn't a merc - I had to replace an engine wiring harness on a motor. Cost of part was around 1200...
How's that warranty price looking now?

Buy Platinum and negotiate price with your dealer or a few dealers if you do not "have" a dealer

How long are the extended warranties? Can you keep buying coverage after the initial expiration?

How long are the extended warranties? Can you keep buying coverage after the initial expiration? 8 years max on the 4 strokes
