Has anyone been? If so, what month did you go and what was the temperature? We don't want to go in a month where we will burn up. I looked online at the average monthly temperatures and they seem to been cooler than let's say, Phoenix. Then I was watching a National Geographic show about it and it said that it can get 120 degrees at the river.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Be safe,

north side is considerably cooler and less crowded than the south. We have camped on both sides, not in the heat of the summer. Our last trip, we stayed in williams Arizona, a lot of route 66 stuff and tool the train from williams to the canyon and back. It was pretty neat, not Durango to Silverton neat but we enjoyed it. Hope this helps a little

We went during spring break. Weather was good. I could spend a week there. It was incredible, in my opinion.

But, my wife and kids were bored after about an hour.

South Rim is open year round, and it does get hot in the summer. North Rim is closed from October thru mid May. It is considerably cooler than the South Rim even in the summer.

I have been on the river in sept. march and april, spring is when to go imo.
you can still get some snow storms but they won't last long usually.

imo, best way is to do a river trip but not in one of the monster J rigs with 40 people on board, those are usually day trips. go on at least a week long, side canyon hikes are awesome.
a lot of just floating with some ermygawd! rapids mixed in, awesome trip.

grand canyon dories for the best bang for the buck, awesome boats in rapids.

this is the best rafting co. in the world, they have offices in a lot of countries and do all kinds of bad arse whitewater, excellent guides

oars runs both rafts and the dories

If you aren’t going on/in the river or camping in a tent, College Bowl game season is the best time to go
Mid December to mid January

It’ll be medium coat weather, but seeing snow mixed with bright, warm sunshine on the canyon is stunning

Stopped by there once on home return from Vegas. Saw all I needed to in about 30 minutes.

We went to the north rim and it was amazing! Made a big loop around, Zion , arches, and into Utah. It was a great trip. Went in July, warm but not humid so I was fine.
