When I lived with Kim in Richardson, just off 190/Renner Road, we lived in a very nice community with an HOA.
She is still there.

The neighborhood HOA has a rule with regards to the "type of windows" the homes can have.

Everyone has the same type/style of windows that goes along with the HOA.

The woman who runs the HOA owns the only house with different windowZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!

I grumbled about my HOA and some of its petty little rules up until it was time to sell. It protects your investment and usually helps with the sale.

what is the difference between a HOA and a POA ? I looked at some property on Lake Palestine, and it was part of a POA. Roads were horrible. If the roads would have been decent I would probably have bought the place. Realtor said county was not responsible for the roads the POA was.

We live in a rural subdivision with a HOA, every lot is 5 acres or bigger. I am currently on the board of directors and am a past president of said HOA. For the most part the rules and restrictions are common sense such as no commercial chicken's, no hogs, pigs or swine of any kind, 1 large animal per acre, etc. I had one call from a really cute woman that wanted the HOA to stop the neighbors outside the HOA from shooting and hunting on their 500 acres. Needless to say the HOA disagreed with her, thankfully she to my spot as president later that year. She told me months later that there was nothing could be done unless they shot across the property lines. Well Duh.

From what I have read, the only difference is that a POA usually has at least 1 business involved. You are basically in the same boat as me where the county doesn't maintain the road, the people that live on property that use the road are.

May you be treated the way you treat other people, today and everyday!

I will never live in a place with an HOA. If I own my house I want to do whatever I choose to with it.

I can see both sides of it. We don't have one where I live now, but I wish we did at times. Unfortunately, some people just don't care about how their property looks or the impact it has on surrounding property values.
