 Phone scam?

I just got a call, they knew my name, and said it was the DEA and that my SSN was linked to illegal drug activity. They said I better call immediately before a warrant was issued.

I'm going to call them and tell them they're about 15 years too late, but give them Toadsnatcher's number as a consolation.

Tell them that before you turn yourself in, they have to prove they're the DEA by going to Walgreens and buy $800 worth of iTune gift cards and read you the numbers on the back. Once this is done, then you'll give them the information they want.

The whole phone number spoof is getting old. Had a little old lady call my work phone asking what I wanted since I had called her....I explained to her what phone spoofing was and how they try to make the phone number look like it is in your state/area code. I told her don't answer her phone if she doesn't recognize the name or the number.... if they are her friends or someone she wants to talk to they will leave her a voice mail. She didn't know all of this and said thanks for helping her.
Now I do occasionally answer the numbers I know full well are spoofed...and as soon as they start trying to sell me something or get me donate to some phony charity I tell them I'm just released from prison and had served time for murder and I'm in a half way house....they hang up real quick...:)

I donโt answer unsolicited calls that arenโt on my contact list. Only the auto warranty scammers ever left a message.
