Don't know how you quantified the percentage above, maybe there is a study you could share, but that still leaves 20% to factor in and that 20% can be the difference between catching and fishing.

I’ve heard these things but don’t believe them a change will often catch fish instead of a 6 inch worm changing yo a 3 inch will often do the trick and you need to try pure black or pure white, just my experience

Gimmicks and gadgets are the scourge of the sportsman! Manufacturers are pimps and the pros are there whores, and the working man is out of luck! I don’t buy any name brands unless it’s a family business or there is no other way like a rapala, there are no generics, I like to use a 3 inch rapala shad for a tail dragger

Throw what you have confidence in. I have a lot of different color senkos but I only have luck with the Zoom Zlinky in watermelon red, the Zero/Z-Too in watermelon red and green pumpkin. I’ve had some luck with the Zoom gun powder as well. I’ve never had any luck with any other color including all the ones in blue. Same with a fluke. Watermelon red with the tail dipped in chartreuse or white with a chartreuse tail. Lipless crankbaits are shad, red, or chrome with a blue or black back. These are what I have confidence in so that’s what I throw.

Once I was fishing fork and a couple of boats pulled into a cove for lunch, we were talking and eating, I had been fishing a cotton cordel red fin 4 inch in solid gold color and it was hanging over the side of the boat about six inches out of the water and as we were sitting the a two pounder crashed out of the water and tried to eat that bait! True story

Simple logic would dictate light color or white just to make it visible and vice versa in light conditions and clear water
Whoever made that study has never fished a day in their life.

Exactly.

How exactly is that an example of fraud? Do you even know what the word means?

Wow, you say you aren't good with crank baits or jigs, have never caught a fish on a drop shot and never caught a bass on a green pumpkin worm and you think you know how to fish better than the rest of us and the pros, since you keep telling us what we are doing wrong according to you. LOL You live in the ozone.

The guy is just bored. He can not possibly be as stupid and arrogant as he’s leading everyone to believe. Right, goob? Tell em it’s just for fun, these posts.

The OP didn't claim color doesn't matter - he clearly wrote color is 10%. I suspect that claim is often reasonably accurate. People spend fortunes to squeeze another 10% (or even 5%) of performance from their rig, so don't think for a second that 10% is insignificant. Imagine if you got a unexpected 10% pay cut. Would you find that significant? Methinks so.

He makes some valid points, albeit a bit coarsely, about how too many choices sucker people into silly purchases. I know people already a half-mil in debt with their houses and overwrought trucks who actually buy more colors of baits, put 'em on a credit card, and carry a balance. As someone who has never paid one cent in interest, which enabled me to retire while still young enough to routinely get carded for a beer, I find such foolishness troubling.

Reading the responses it's quite clear many of you have a terrible grasp of causation. Determining what differences color makes is quite scientifically challenging, but many of my fellow outdoorsmen and ladies are, well, not exactly attuned to science.

Food for thought tends to be a good thing.
