That's what I like about my 08 Silverado, it's does everything I need it to do. I could get a newer truck but I hate driving at night with all the light coming from the 9'" screen of the "entertainment system"
On some of the high end trucks you could read the owners manual cover to cover and half the stuff will be [censored] you never need or rarely use.

Yes, should've expected that here. You're right.

Don’t give in kj! Don’t take any s*** from anybody. Live your life man!!

I rebuilt a Holley carburetor this year in my old car and was astonished how many part there are. Electronic fuel injection is so much more reliable.

LoL . Yeah I forgot about Holly carbs . Had to change the power valves every time the darn thing backfired through the carbs .

I used to always look under the hood and check them over bumper to bumper several times before buying. Nowadays I read the specs and look up inventory on the web and just go get it. I had the same thoughts as kj buying this last one several weeks ago, never even looked under the hood. I like lots of the technology like backup camera, on the fly 4wd, XM and bluetooth, but I would rather not have auto dimming headlights, automatic wipers and a few other gadgets. I'll never use the automatic trailer backing thing and that auto start\stop is a PITA. It would be nice to find a package that has what I want without that stuff but it doesn't exist.

I am in my truck quite a bit. Its my daily driver. I like the comfort and features in today's vehicles and tgey are factirs when I buy. Today's vehicles are more dependable and just better than years ago.

Nothing is stopping you from buyer an older stripped down model. If you are as handy as you claim to be you shoukd save yourself time and money by buying older and keeping it running. Should be easy for a guy with your ability.

I was given a rental by Kia when they were replacing the engine in my Soul. That auto start/stop thing is real PITA...and a bit dangerous...especially if you're stopped and see someone sliding toward you in your rearview mirror....you gotta pray that thing starts in time to get you out of the way in that split second. I looked at the Subaru Legacy, but it had that feature and you had to turn it off every time you got in the car...that was just one more reason I went with the Sonata....it didn't have that stupid start/stop feature and it has great gas mileage.

Mine has a night setting and is adjustable. I figure most are.

I drove a Slingshot a couple of weeks ago, I think you can build them pretty much the way you want. I wouldn't want one but it was probably the most fun vehicle I've ever driven. I accessorized my drawers with a new skid mark.
