Finally made it back to Fayette today. The party is coming to an end, but still had a somewhat productive day. Fished from daybreak until 3 pm with Gulp minnows. Started out at all the usual spots with very little success. No Bluegill colonies left on beds or in reeds anywhere. The water level is down from the summer months making the reed beds almost impossible to fish. Finally headed over to fish the rip rap around 11 am and started catching somewhat consistently. Ended up with about a dozen good size Rios, 6 Tilapia, 10 bass & maybe 35 smallish Gils. Fought a ginormous catfish for around 10 minutes only to have it de-hook at the boat...for the best...would not have fit in the net. I guess the massive Bluegill colonies have moved out to deeper water...A place we now call OSBORNVILLE... [Linked Image]

Thanks all for the replies...
Chuck...I have caught more Tilapia in the mouth this year than ever before...In the past it was mostly foul hook ups. I think the Gulp Alive is responsible...
Curtis...Twilight Zone sounds pretty accurate.

Looks like the perch are fast moving to The Twilight Zone. But a very interesting tally nevertheless with the 6 ! tilapia, bass, and the big cat. All are welcome ! grin

Gitter...Yes, the Tilapia in the picture was caught in 3-4 feet of water in the trees. The other ones were caught in 6-7 feet of water by the rip rap.
Flags...I would wait until next summer or springtime...from now on it's going to be tough to catch any sunfish...
Doc...Get your catfish gear ready !

Vogey - I am honored to have my name associated with such a great angler in any way. I went back over to look for “Osbornville” again yesterday, and it was more like the Twilight Zone. roflmao I marked a few small groups in open water but only got one taker in a few hours of fishing. It was a nice 9 inch fish. I did clean up on catfish later in the day.

Steve — Was that big cat you wrestled with a channel or a flathead ?
