New science research shows bass cannot tell the difference between chartruse and white or between blue and black its on u tube if your into it
Red is the best color they can see but only in bright light and clear water
I dont know why tbe pros and some of you guys fish dark in dark conditions and stained dark water??? Simple logic would dictate light color or white just to make it visible and vice versa in light conditions and clear water

I dont know why tbe pros and some of you guys fish dark in dark conditions and stained dark water??? Simple logic would dictate light color or white just to make it visible and vice versa in light conditions and clear water I don't go with "new science research" to tell me what color the fish will bite. I get on the water and try different colors to see which the fish like best that day. Your statement about red being the best color but only in bright light and clear water is TOTALLY FALSE. I have proven that many times over catching fish on red baits. Naturally you would not know why pros and many of us fish dark colors in dark conditions is because we have seen for ourselves that they work by actually using them and catching fish on them, not just listening to some "new science research" Time on the water is the best teacher, we don't care what should work in theory, we go by what works in reality. Now for your last statement about logic and color,,,,,,do bass use logic when they decide to bite a bait or not??? Just wondering, what stratosphere do you reside in??

I can tell you it matters on Rayburn. I used to get my butt kicked, because I would fish the conditions. Overcast day water a little off color I was flipping junebug brushhog. Had a guy come in right behind me and flip the same bush with a watermelon brushhog and caught a 3lbs. Every tournament after that I would use some shade of watermelon and cashed a check. I know sometimes redbug, plumapple, tomato, ect are the hot colors, but you can always catch them on some shade of watermelon. So for guys like me that didn't get to practice before the tournament as a co-anger I didn't even bring anything but watermelon to Rayburn. T-Bend fishes differently IMO, one tournament I was throwing watermelon and catching fish, clouds rolled in I stopped getting bit, so I switched to red shad and junebug and started catching again.
One trip on Falcon, after the lake has just re-opened from flooding, I was waking a white spinnerbait. I had several 4-6 lbs bass swirl on the bait, slowed it down and nothing. I changed to pro-blue and caught fish until they tore the blade off the bait, same presentation just a lighter shade. So to answer your questions I would say color and presentation do matter.

I think they feed more by lateral line in dirty water anyway though.

Fished this morning with flukes. Wouldn’t hit the chartreuse but they blasted the white. Fluke bite is on.

Color can be critical. More often, lure size and line size are more important.
Most important is fish feeding response. They are wild animals, when they're on, they're on. When they aren't, KVD doesn't catch them.
Onward.

This would be my theory as well. Although I think it can also change with the bait type. For instance, fished a lake in Mexico and there was nothing they would not eat that was watermelon/red except a fluke. Would not touch it. Switched to a pro blue fluke and they wore it out.

Why can u catch bass on a rainbow trout pattern when there are no rainbow trout?
Why can u catch bass on a clear bait?
Action and size are 80 plus percent of the reason bass strike
Country bumpkins and sheep hearders would believe anything
