100 amps is too cold imho, 115-120amps... I agree with Toaster Eyes, Jody is a Bad Mama Jamma when it comes too anything welding!

Good video. I have always wanted to try and weld. I may give it a go now. I have a few projects on the fence that need done.

Not bad for a first time. Right now just concentrate on tying in your metals. Don't worry about penetration...it does you no good if your metals don't tie in. A 6011 is not a deep penetrating rod anyways and depending on the thickness of the metals you are joining you may not want a lot a penetration...you'll just burn through. Get proficient with the 60 series rods and the 70's will come easy. Don't be afraid to experiment with different heat settings and rod techniques. Learn to control the puddle. Just because someone else burns faster and hotter doesn't mean you can or have to. Faster and hotter comes with it's own problems. Remember....control the puddle!
