Hope they do well. I didn’t find on their site where they claimed “made in the USA” but I probably just missed it. Always good for our economy when a local company succeeds. Still just another marketing gimmick when you take orders 9-10 months before projected ship date for over 1/2 price under “suggested retail price”. Their other reels are pretty “economically priced”. How are those reviews?

Why not support manufacturing in the US if you need a reel in this category & price range?

You don't. But I have also returned more high dollar, well known reels than I should have. Also they have built their factory in Southlake where the median income is $173,000 and the average price of a home sold last month was $813,000. Real estate there is not cheap. I would say they are planning to be a player for a long time based on that investment.

buying anything off a fb ad is dicey at best, been there, done that and got lucky both times that I got my money back thru paypal.

if I didn't find it in a search I started for a product it's a no for me.

when they are in local stores and I can pick one up and look at it, then I may be interested.

I have been switching over to all lews super duty wide spool and don't care where they are made, they work great.

I'm with Hopalong on this one. Every transaction I've had via a FaceBook Ad has been a trainwreck, having to get either PayPal or my credit card company involved. If my own mother tried to sell me anything through FaceBook, I'd report and block her. FaceBook=Den of thieves.

yeah facebook ads and all are terrible. This ad is simply trying to get people to reserve a reel that hasn't been made yet those are CAD drawings lol

I wouldn’t buy them to be your guinea pig nor prepay for a reel that’s going come out next summer(maybe) but it’s not all Facebook at all. They have a small office/warehouse in a small industrial park in Southlake and a website. https://sixgillfishing.com/ Still not seeing the “made in the USA”.

They have a office space/warehouse in Southlake that they share with another company.

from the listing for the reel:

Quote
Our Texas Project casting reel will be a triumph of American fishing industry manufacture and the culmination of our most ambitious project to date! Bringing manufacture of a low-profile casting reel back to the U.S. has been a goal and a constant under-the-radar project for us since we formed the company. The reel will be a balance from both Texas and wider US manufacturing and sourcing as well as a small percentage of components from our global suppliers, all coming together with assembly and quality control at our Southlake, Texas facility. It will balance the best aspects of our current flagship Wraith reel and our new Hamarr. The combination of our proven magnetic braking system with micro gearing and ceramic bearings means that the reel will be equally and impressively smooth on both the cast and the retrieve. Add to that the featherweight provided by carbon composite material plus our oversized carbon cranking handle and you’ve got a serious contender even before you consider that it’s coming straight out of Texas!

My guess is they're outsourcing the manufacturing to US companies and need cash to get it started, and then will do the assembly at their warehouse in Southlake. Crowdsourcing funding for designing and manufacturing something innovative is one thing, but an established company needing to crowdsource funding for manufacturing of something they already "make" seems a bit suspect

They are not exactly a start-up. The fly fishing division started in 2007. KastKing did the same thing with their Speed Demon Elite, which is now on Tackle Warehouse.
