I've been pulled over 4 times in 17 years of driving.
16 and was headed home 15 minutes before curfew - 3 minutes from the house - wrote down 58 in a 40 - which I most certainly was NOT going and that ticket was dismissed because the Judge's daughter was a good friend - that was a Dallas County Sheriff...I was completely respectful and did everything right and they pulled me out and searched my K5 (apparently a 16 year old kid needed 4 officers to respond to a traffic stop...maybe it matched a vehicle description for something else - who knows).
23 - my then GF (now wife) were in Wills Point looking at a rent house. I stopped 1' past the line and a few blocks later got pulled over (never saw him). Just a warning - had fishing poles and a cooler in the back and he admitted he was just making sure I wasn't drunk
27 - coming back from duck hunting on a FM road - going 65 in a 55 and a met a trooper head on who flipped around and got me. I had stopped by the time he could even turn around. We talked duck hunting for 30 minutes, no ticket...but two weeks later he was in my duck hunting spot - ended up hunting with him a couple times, but it's been a few years since I've seen him
31 - Mesquite cop pulled me over for slow rolling a stop sign - he realized who I was about the time I realized who he was - needless to say we were not friends in high school and we're still not friends and I indeed got a ticket lol

In Texas every cop car has a radar gun. Here in Huntsville, AL, I think the city has 5 units equipped with them. Lots of times I told my self, "Busted", but I they don't even pull me over.
Waiting on Bob Davis' next selfie

Stopped last week in Melissa. License plate light was out. Told him I had been pig hunting and he asked if I had some rifles in the back. I said "yes, and I have a handgun in the passenger seat." Never even flinched or shined his light on it. Wrote me a warning and sent me on my way. Very courteous.

I always act in a way that wont get me shot which really isnt that hard despite what some seem to think. That surprises me in you......figgered you would bow up and challenge his radar, and tell him to dim his lights while stopping you. #softie

As soon as they hit their light pull over immediately 2. Put vehical in park. 3. Turn on dome light if at night 4. Keep both hands on the left side of steering wheel where they are easily seen and do not move them. 5. Be courteous and speak only when spoken to.

Driving through a school zone, it was after 9am and no flashing amber lights were on. Turned right, and saw a cop. No big deal... Nope, I got pulled over. Said the road with flashing lights is a different zone from the road I was on, because the road I was on, was in front of the school. I told him the lights weren't flashing and he said, there are no flashing lights on the road I was on, only on the other road that I turned from. Wait, what? So the road with the flashing lights has a different school zone time than the road in front of the school where there are no lights at all, of any kind? My first and only ticket.

Was pulled over at 4:30 in the morning outside of Melissa. I was headed up to Lake Crockett for a tournament. Cop said I did not turn off my bright lights when is was coming toward me. I told him my bright lights were not on. I was towing my boat so I think my lights were turned upwards do to towing my boat. He asked me if I had been drinking and where I was going that time in the morning (remember I was towing my boat). I told him no I had not been drinking and I was going up to Lake Crockett to fish a tournament. He gave me a verbal warning about driving with my bright lights on (which I was not) and to slow down (I was not speeding and he never said anything about driving too fast).
Another time I was heading through Rusk again towing my boat and was pulled over by a local cop for speeding. I was going 55 in a 45 zone (I never saw the speed limit change). I was on my way to Rayburn which turns out he grew up on. We talked about fishing for about 20 minutes. Finally he just told m to slow down and have fun fishing. On the way back I looked for the sign and finally found it on the downside of a hill behind a tree about 20 feet up. Talk about speed trap.

IMO in today’s America that kind of trickery is under-appreciated. After learning the details of my infraction, I would have smiled and fist-bumped that LEO.
