 Help!!! Rented machine from home depot & it doesn't work

I rented an aerator to poke holes on the ground. Just when I am 90% done the machine turns off and I can't pull the rope becuase It seems to be jammed. What could be wrong???
Gas powered just like a lawn mower.

Hate to say this, but it seems the engine is seized..

The key under the flywheel probably sheered, pull the cover off of the engine and look at the flywheel. When that key shears it throws off the timing causing the engine to die. It also make the flywheel catywhompus against the magneto making it to where you cant pull the rope.

Absolutely take it back and get another aerator rent free for the same period of time you have already paid for.
