I used to use a basket like that. I haven’t seen one in years though. I now just keep a 48 quart ice chest and put the fish on Ice.

A catfish will stay alive for hours in the floor of the boat. LOL.
I put my first few in the livewell, if I'm gonna have enough to cook, I'll start putting them on ice.

My friend that I fish with at Amistad still uses toe sacks which I believe he buys at feed stores. With the sack in the water access is pretty easy then pull the sack into the boat before heading to the ramp and then the cleaning station. If 4 people are fishing he puts a sack on each side.

That's what I use. A coffee bean sack also works if you want a heavier duty sack. If you're catching really big ones, you might want to step up to a cotton sack.

I've seen quite a few people use those 8 dollar expandable fine mesh laundry bags from Ikea too.

I just keep them on a stringer (the "safety pin" kind) until time to go home. Then I drop them in an ice chest with a bag or two of ice.

Hooking them on a stringer through the soft tissue in the bottom jaw works for me.

I am trying to figure out how to kill the damn things LOL. I throw them into a cooler in the fall and winter. Colder temps they stay alive for my trips. IN the summer, stringer.
A bad day of fishing is still a great day
