I just read on a website ad that one of the things that hurts your homes value is... The popcorn texture on the ceiling which is so last century was the very words. Who else in here has a popcorn ceiling?

I do...never thought much about it. It's a pain to paint, but never bothered me when buying a property.
We have two of our properties for sale...none of the comments have been about the popcorn ceilings.

It's a PIA to get rid of. Mine is semi ... very rough texture.
Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.

When we flip a house it is the first thing to go. Otherwise, I could live with it in my own house. HGTV has made popcorn ceiling the devil.

I used to make it, I mean literally mix it and bag it off. Sold untold tons of it in the SE, and still do

I don’t know if was custom or common but I owned a house in Houston that in some rooms the popcorn had sparkle in it. The 60s-70s had memorable decorating choices.

Why all the hate for popcorn ceilings? It helps dampen the echos in the entire house. From that stand point alone it's worth it. Just installed laminate floors in the house I'm selling and the noise is deafening. Can't imagine what it must be like with laminate and smooth ceilings. That would drive me batty!
