Hello everyone,
Creating this post in hopes for some insight, better understanding, and hopefully I might get lucky and get a recommendation. So I recently bought a new boat and want to deck it out with a new trolling motor/fish finder. I really am looking for the best/technical fish finder along with a 100 lb+ thrust trolling motor for freshwater fishing. I am leaving lowrance out of the equation because they seemed a bit behind this generation from my research... also keep in mind screen size is not highly important to me and a 7-10 inch is fine.
I was set on the solix 10 and ulterra 112 lb thrust so that they were both linked. I was obsessed with this idea of 360 imaging. Plus the vendor told me that in the next week they are getting the new generation 3’s so I should have the latest and greatest model.
Now.... I stumbled upon this new livescope feature from Garmin and I am blown away. If I was a primary cast and retrieve fisherman this would be a no brainer. This technology looks like it rocks!!! I also don’t typically like any of the trolling motors that are “compatible” with Garmin. Does anyone know a compatible trolling motor that would match up to the lowrance ghost or mini kota ulterra?
But typically, I am trolling with long lines out. So in my mind livescope I would just bypass the fish and lose visual of them when they are actually around my bait...It would be normal for me to have my bait 100 ft back or so behind the boat. With this style of fishing in mind what set up would be best!? Could I position the sender of live scope in a way that would help me while trolling more? Of course I will be using down imaging and side imaging mostly and seems like hummingbird might be slightly better in those aspects(from my research). I am primarily looking at the two capabilities “livescope” and “360 mega”. When trolling 2.5 mph or so in 20-70 ft of water what one would give me the best advantage?
I greatly appreciate anyone’s time and knowledge on this. Stuff is a ton of money and I am really struggling to find these types of answers I’m looking for.

Can you actually use either one of them while moving 2.5 mph? "I was going to update my Helix's and get Mega 360 but I might just wait until they get the Mega 360 Live out.

I would love to know if it even works at those speeds. And it’s not always 2.5 mph just up to that speed...
I hear mixed opinions on both. I’m hearing they both work fantastic while moving and then I also hear the picture is distorted while moving. Would love to hear more on that.

livescope/93sv uhd plus/force trolling motor. best of what you want, livescope is like a little live action movie, 360 is 2d sonar on roids with no movement. the force will work as 24v or 36v just hook it up like you want it. all updates are over an app on your phone and pretty much automatic and easy to load to unit. units link with wifi not bluetooth so more dependable. all in all they got this right as I see it so far. I switched over to all garmin and couldn't be happier. 95 champion 202 with 57" force.

Sweet, this was great feedback. I was also told today to do something cost effective to maybe achieve best of both worlds for about $1000 more. A combo for livescope and garmin fish finder was roughly the same price as the solix. So I would get the garmin fish finder with livescope, and purchase an additional hummingbird helix that would connect to the ulterra troling motor. This will allow me to have best of both worlds with 360 and livescope. So I think this is what I am going to try to do. Originally I thought I had to have the solix for 360, so to achieve both 360 and livescope it would of been $2500 more(too rich for my blood).
Also I saw someone today online that mounted a pole to the side of their boat that could move in a 360. They then mounted the livescope to that pole! They were mainly trolling and using the live scope to keep an eye on their trailing bait. Anyone recommend this so that you don’t have to point with the trolling motor?
New to all of this technology so I greatly appreciate the help and recommendations. If anything I say sounds crazy/wrong please stop me before I spend all this money haha!!!

Trying to see 70' down and 100' behind the boat is a tall order. What are you fishing for? How big are the fish you are after?

You won't need to troll aimlessly with Livescope! It is a game changer.

I love my Livescope. It really is a hoot watching the bait fall right into a school of fish and have one hammer the bait.
The best fisherman I know, who is primarily a bass fisherman has the 360 and Livescope in the front of the boat.
My BiL, who is primarily a crappie fisherman that uses spider rigs, has just gotten Livescope. He has it mounted on the TM, since he goes straight. I have my Livescope on a separate pole, which works best for me.

Livescope won’t make them bite. That was the issue for the first half of my morning. Around noon, they started to bite.
