No nasal swabs for me. I got tested last Friday. Took 32 seconds and results in 15 minutes. They texted me the results before I made it back home.

Why do people want to be tested if they don't feel bad?

2 weeks off, paid, if you can find a place notorious for giving false positives. They're out there.

Maybe you want to know if you have it, so you don't spread it, like to your elderly high risk mother or father?

You need a test to visit a loved one in a long-term care facility.

Or to travel to some states. My wife went to Massachusetts last month and had to have a negative test within 72 hours of arrival.

Testing only says you are negative at that moment. You can catch the virus after the test. Negative test is just a false since of security.

My wife and I will be tested tomorrow. Just got back from a week long visit with my son in Utah. He called today and was positive for Covid. He had a mild upper respiratory issue.

From what I have been told by the person over our lab at the university (she's a world renowned physician and is studying why men are having more severe infections than women), you are the most infectious 2 to 3 days before symptoms even appear. So you may be infected and spreading it before you even have a symptom.

I am tested every two weeks because in my line of work, I am within 12 to 18 inches of my client's face for a prolonged period of time. We're testing the athletes, coaches, dance team, cheerleaders, choir, band, music majors (basically anyone that has to participate in group activities for their work/education) and select faculty/staff. Healthcare workers and lab workers are tested weekly.

It's just so we can contain an outbreak as soon as possible. It is not fun, but it is necessary. For being one of the largest universities in the state, we are thankfully having great luck at keeping things in check.

Everything else equal, a person that has been tested negative is less probable to have it vs someone that has not been test. And the longer you go not being test, the probability of not having it goes down. Its not complicated.

If they had a reliable home test, that would be ideal.

Just be sure you're getting the PCR test. The antibody test is total carp.
