I have a mercury 150 xr6 on a 20' skeeter sx200 fiberglass boat..and have a senior sting ray hydrofoil..first of all will it fit? And is this a good idea or not ? And why? I know nothing and have no experience with hydrofoils.....

first things first.. tha xr6 is borderline for power on that boat IMO... needs at least a 200.. some swear by tha add on but most consider 'em a "band aid" for something not right in set up.. ie: offset, motor height, prop, overall weight carried.......... jmo.

The guy who I used for boat set up for years told me that a glass bass boat doesn’t need one. Like TLW said you have an issue that you would be trying to hide. The wrong prop cup will effect it. He did tell me the only time he thinks it ok is on a light aluminum rig. To help control bow hop. I would dig deeper into the issues first.?

If you think you need one of those, you have something wrong in your setup.

No issues.. not thinking I need one...friend has it and I just wondered if it would be good to put on my boat....sounds like I dont need it unless there is an issue...so I will steer clear of adding it to my boat...thanks for the comments guys...

+1, tell friend to keep his hydrofoil.

I'll go against the grain and say I have one on my XR6 and LOVE it. I installed it so I could plane faster as well as run on plane at a slower speed and it works great for that. I'll admit I lost a couple MPH top end but I'd rather lose that and be able to stay on plane at a slower speed running creeks crappie fishing...
