Headed up to Okla for a few days in October. I don't have fly fishing gear (might buy before I go, though).

What do I need to take up there to be "successful" using spinning gear?

#1 in line mepps. Black fury,white/chrome, buck tail/ chrome

a small kastmaster, couple mepps - 0 and #1's, also a rod holder of your choice and some mouse tails. I love running the mepps when i'm walking around, kast master if there is a lot of wind - if i want to sit and eat or something similar you can bust out the mouse tails and let it sit. The advantage of having the mouse tail rigs... if you have a bunch of bugs that are local forage (grasshoppers so on) - you can always hook one on and see if it hits -

the community ponds thread and/or the trout stocking threads have how you can rig mouse tails - they work on more than just stocked trout. To date i've caught wild trout, bass, bluegill, catfish, yellow/white bass on them (yes that was a random lets just see what happens).

Can of corn and tails

Berkley makes some little floating trout worms. Set up your spinning rod with a splitshot and a #12 hook about 12" back. Rig the worm on there just like you would a bass worm. Thats how I caught this about 5 years ago. Of course we did pretty well on meps spinners and corn too.

One inch Berkley Gulp minnow on a drop shot rig. 1/16 or 1/8 oz. weight depending on how far you want to cast. #8 or #10 owner mosquito hook about 10 inches above the weight, on 4 or 6 lb. line. That will keep your bait above the bottom and out of the rocks. Power bait honey worms work great, too. If you can't find those, just use earthworm pieces. Some sections of the river only allow artificial lures with barbless hooks.

Powerbait is best, others below may also work.

Super duper’s in variety of colors, troutworms and mouse tails

I've thrown clear zara spooks and/or puppy's in the river right behind the cabins in the park and gotten a few brown bass. They're fun if the trout aren't happening.
