If you’re new to Crappie fishing and aren’t sure if they even bite in the fall then this video is for you. I hope there’s a tip or two within it that will help you catch more fish.

You must have been on Lake Smoothasglass. Love days like those. Unfortunately I’m always working when they show up. Retirement is coming up though. Just not quick enough. Lol

One thing I noticed - the ultrex in little wind wasn't doing much at all. My Xi5 seems it's always moving in wind/no wind, etc. Frustrates me sometimes though it does a pretty good job. I've got it and a Fortrex. I had a Terrova which I sold because it wouldn't hold me tight as I thought it should. I dunno....maybe it's time to sell the Xi5 and Fortrex and get an Ultrex smile I've got hummingbirds along with my Livescope. It would be nice to have the Ultrex to link with the Helix and go to a spot.

Nice job on the video Gary, the crappie were really swallowing the lure this time.

Good vid, shows how little structure is actually needed if the fish want to be there.

Could it be a problem with satellite reception for the gps in the trolling motor?

Is it worse on cloudy days?

Spiderman, I wouldn't say it's a big problem at all. It's still pretty good, but outside the advertised 5 foot of movement. It's more noticeable of course if I'm 'anchored' fishing visible structure. As I mentioned I had the 1st gen Terrova, and switched to the Xi5 which is better for sure. I think my Xi5 is 3 years old and I'm suspecting the enhancements to the technology is what I'm seeing in Gary's video. OR Maybe I'm just trying to talk myself into spending some $ on the Ulterra smile I've got a TR186 (2000 year) and an elevated Livescope up front. It's a bit narrow and a pain to reach over to put the Xi5 up and down. As I ain't gettting no younger, I could make a case for the stow/depoly function, plus Ipilot link to my Helix 10's. I just need one more good reason, and that'll be 3 and I can give myself the go ahead. Problem is #3 involves getting the 'go ahead' nod from the lovely. I obviously 'need' it. On the anchoring alone, I don't have a good enough reason to change. In my case I'll see some good structure on the side scan and mark it, then I go to the front, deploy and go look for the waypoint. It would be so much easier and time saving to do it from the console, right.

As you can see I'm rehearsing my speech for the 'nod'. smile

But to be serious, I need to pay more attention if it's cloudy day or not. I know under a bridge...forget it, and it makes sense of course. All in all, I think it boils down to my expectations on the 5 ft spot hold.
