Just keep in mind as you are naming a dog, One day he will be out and about and you will be out looking for him maybe up and down the street and calling his name. So what do you want to be calling in your neighborhood?

I like Roscoe or Bosco

Zag, as a stand-alone name is fine. I would proceed with caution IF one already has a small dog named Zig. Having two small dogs, with the names Zig and Zag, is just unnecessarily forcing some ghey onto the dog scene.

Edit: The above advice only pertains to dudes...dudes who own, or will ever be asked the names of the dogs while walking them or whatnot. For chicks itโ€™s fine.

Lots of names offered sound "puppy'ish."

What is the finished product going to look like for the remaining 10-15 years?
