Put building my shop on hold till after the first of the year. Boat fits just fine in garage. Will leave that money in the bank and not pay 3-4 times more for it to get built now. Will wait it out.

I'm thinking that unless it's a specialty lumber like western red cedar or redwood, 99% of the wood sold in most of Texas is southern yellow pine.

And crooked as heck

LOL yes it is

Yellow pine is the wood that never stops moving.

We just built an enclosure for our new miniature donkey. What would’ve cost me less than $500 normally cost me over $1,200. Absolutely ridiculous.

We are doing the concrete work on a big apartment complex up in Denton, was there last week and they were building a big security fence up in the middle of the project and filling it up with truck loads of lumber, I asked the project manager what was going on, he said by accepting all the lumber for the project right now they were saving over 1M dollars, he said the lumber prices are really going to hurt a lot of their future projects.

I'm a project manager for a homebuilder in Washington state. I just finished one home and if I started it today it would cost 50k more.

We put our build on hold till hopefully spring. I'm thinking about selling the land now and just buying something. Its ridiculous and people are buying new builds before the slab is poured still. I cant make myself pay these prices. Every time I pulled in the driveway I would be pissed

My friend who is in lumber sales for large homebuilders mentioned they only guarantee the price quoted for 5 business days. That's how fast it's changing.

I'm not buying pine for homes, I buy cedar for pergolas and fence. It has gone nuts.

Paid $5/picket for pre-stained 1x6x6 dog earred. Crazy prices

That's actually what I'm interested in. Western Red Cedar.
