Was just given a Humminbird 859ci hd graph and although I'm pretty sure when the model came out side imaging was not offered I have heard that this model can be used for side imaging through the use of a side imaging transducer. I was just curious if anyone knows there to be any truth to this claim and if so what side imaging transducer would work with this model?

Not possible. It can display si from a si unit if networked but connecting a si transducer to that unit will not give you si

Not possible. It can display si from a si unit if networked but connecting a si transducer to that unit will not give you si correct, doesn't have the software for it. good 2d and can do di with the right ducer but no side image. click the link for specs https://humminbird.johnsonoutdoors.com/fish-finders/discontinued/859ci-hd-di-combo?jo-page=2

Side Imaging units were first on the market in the 2004/2005 time period. The 859 is at least four generations later. The Side Imaging model and Down Imaging model came out the same time as the sonar only model. 859ci HD Combo 859ci HD DI Combo 899ci HD SI Combo All three of those models replaced the: 858c HD Combo 858c HD DI Combo 898c HD SI Combo
