With a HS Tournament coming up on Caddo October 10th, I’m going to be on that lake for the first time in over ten years. I’ve read about rebar in stumps and want to avoid any damage to the boat if possible. No fishing advice, just a heads up for places that might be a problem would be appreciated.
Thanks

Don’t follow that link as it shows some of the most dangerous ones to run this time of the year. The lake is fine to run for the most part. Make sure u stay on the sign side of the poles. There is a little rebar but it’s mostly in Jeems bayou boat lanes which is visually seen while running. The only problems I will find are on K run if the lake drops another foot. It’s full on stumps when at low pool in fall play a lower unit killer. Idle off all boat lanes.

The Caddo trails are not running trails, only trails for the boat rows and Big Cypress Bayou.
Did attempt to make the trails on the proper side of the boat row poles.

The word "run" is not in the Read-Me file.

Thanks. I’m very conservative about operating a boat on unfamiliar waters. This information makes me feel better about the rebar. I’ll just need to spend some time there to pick an area to focus on for the event.
Again, thanks

Caddo is really easy to run. If you aren’t in a boat lane just idle shouldn’t have an issue. There is alot more metal to hit in jeemes because the oil rigs. On the texas side the duck blinds are the main issue for rebar.

Preface: These guys^^^^^know way more about Caddo than I. That said I have never had any issues by simply running in the marked boat runs. A paper map is very helpful and for sale all around the lake but honestly my Humminbird with a Navionics Platinum South card in it shows every trail I need to safely get around the entire lake. When not in the actual boat lanes and running from visual marker to marker? Trim up and idle SLOW! Good luck on the tourney.

BigDozer, every time I take a trip to Caddo I have to balance a fishing trip with a sight seeing trip. Oh well, I get my share of 100% fishing only trips! 😁. We always stay at Shady Glade right there in Uncertain. Ramp, cheap stalls if you choose to leave your boat in the water overnight, great breakfast and/or burgers at their little cafe. Not the Ritz Carlton but decent accommodations for us. From a sightseeing perspective the upper lake up into the river(Big Cypress Bayou) is really what Caddo is famous for. Take Government Ditch up into the river and tie up at Big Pines Lodge for a cold beer and really good catfish. Ride up the river past the state park. Sightsee up the many marked boat trails around Uncertain for some great sightseeing. http://shadygladeresort.com/

We usually do an AirBnB or stay at one of the Moon Glow Cabins there near Shady Glade. We stayed here for a week earlier this year and it will be our choice as long as its available from here on out. Great place with its own boat dock. Love this house. Really, really clean and comfortable.
