I got both of mine done 3 years ago. I believe it was 3600 bucks. They are my eyes so I went to the best place I could find not the cheapest. My eyes were really bad, so they had to laser off quite a bit. My contact prescription was -5.75 if that gives you any idea. Anyway, when I get there they give me a valium and tell me to wait 30 minutes for that to kick in. 5 minutes later they come and get me and tell me the doc is ready. The whole procedure takes about 5 minutes if I recall, including set up time. It's highly unpleasant as they suction cup your eyeball, but outside of that there is really no pain.

Immediately afterwards I could see enough to walk around, but that was it. When I went outside, my eyes were so light sensitive that I was essentially blind. Thank goodness my wife was circling the parking-lot and found me. I put shades on for the ride home, but that wasn't enough to block out the light. I had to wrap my head in a towel to get home. When I got home (probably 5pm) I tried to stay awake for an hour or two. Both of my eyes felt like someone poured molten sand into both my eyes. Painful yes, but far more irritating than anything. When I couldn't stand it anymore around 7pm, I took two shots of whiskey, the second Valium they gave me and an ambien. I crossed my fingers and hoped I'd wake up the next day.

Wake up I did. Went to the doc that morning for a next day check up. 20/15 in both eyes (That's better than 20/20). One eye felt like a million bucks. The second eye felt like it had an eyelash in it. After day 2 thought there was zero pain or irritation of any kind. My only regret is putting it off as long as I did. Highly recommend getting it done.

I'm strongly considering this, I'm glad this thread got started. I have stigmatism in both eyes so I was concerned that it might not be possible. I guess that's incorrect?
