Has anyone had any luck in any of the canals in Los Colinas? The water I’ve seen seems to be good depth and what I’ve seen is dirty color. I haven’t seen anyone fishing in any of them. That’s either good or bad, which one is to be determined.
Thanks

I used to fish it with buddies now and then in my teens to early 20's, caught some decent bass out there, but that was 20 years ago. You usually couldn't fish too long before las Colinas patrol would spot you can kick you off, or the water taxi called them on you, i dont think the water taxi is there anymore but could be wrong. The dart station by there used to be decent though and they never messed with us, and the trinity overflow ponds off riverside used to be decent too. Never know if you don't go, if you do report back and good luck

Its been 20+ years, but used to catch some good bass, bream, catfish there. Security guards can/will run you off. Good luck!

They all have fish. I have fished them my whole life. Most places are ok to fish but some will run you off.

Posted or not, be ready for the Los Colinas security patrol to ask you to leave. The few interactions I've had with them have been respectful and professional. .... Even when they tried to kick me out of Thomas Jefferson park.

Like said, I havent fished there in 20 years, but did catch some good bass out there back in the day. Back then if fishing anywhere in the actual canals you would eventually get kicked off by las colinas patrol or water taxi, there were no fishing signs painted on the concrete edges of the waterfront. We would fish the canals until they kicked us off, then go fish the Dart station at Riverside & NW Hwy, or the Trinity overflow ponds @ Riverside & California Crossing. (never messed with us there)

FYI. All of the canals in Las Colinas are "no fishing". I have fished the little spot in the median of Royal Lane just east of Beltline many times over the years. A few weeks ago as I was walking down there the a security guard stopped me and advised there was no fishing. He handed me a card with all the "no fishing" spots, which was every canal in Las Colinas and told me I could only fish in the Trinity. Found this on-line:
"In order to protect the integrity of the Dallas County Utility and Reclamation District(DCURD)’s storm drainage, flood control and raw water distribution facilities, fishing on the 56 different waterways in Las Colinas is prohibited. Fishing is specifically prohibited at Rochelle Park, Old Rochelle Park, Lago de Claire, Rosita Park and Wingren Park. The areas surrounding Lake Carolyn, other waterways and the parks are privately owned property. Therefore, anyone caught fishing could end up with a $571.00 criminal entry violation..."

Very interesting. If they don't have them posted, the only thing they can do is run you off. There is so much water in Las Colinas, a good chunk of them are not posted.

if they wanted folks to fish there the banks would be lined up im sure they think most folks are smart enough not to come on to private property to fish. just because its not posted doesnt mean you can go on private property an fish.

Yup, I dont know if they still do it, but back in the day the edges of the concrete waterfront all along the canal had no fishing signs painted on them every 10 feet or so. It never stopped us and would still fish until they kicked us off, but they always did. I would imagine with all the renovation and apts they have there now that they are more strict than ever regarding fishing, but maybe not. Try it and let us know how it goes, it has some good fish in it, and the worse they will do it kick you off
