Sounds like you pretty well have dove hunting mastered.

Nick you’re doing it right. It’s all about just shooting. Those birds are bullet proof! 😁. Seriously I think the national average is like 7 shells per bird. Keep shooting and lead the bird more than you think. Get some time at the skeet range like was said above. After 30 years or so you may get your average down to like 5 shots per bird

If you haven't killed any in 2 outings, give it up. I'll give you $100 and a case of beer for the gun.

Lot cheaper practicing shooting Skeet vs. Sporting Clays.
I'd suggest going to the Skeet range with someone who knows how to shoot and practice. It will make a big difference in the number of birds you kill in the field. I don't know anything about the relative cost of skeet vs. sporting clays. But I will say that IMO skeet shooting is much better practice for dove hunting. Over 50% of the shots at a typical sporting clay set are flying away from the shooter. This is very good practice for quail or pheasant hunters, but not for dove hunters. Dove fly across or at you, not typically away from you.

Nicky, an over under is not the easiest to hunt with especially if both barrels are choked differently. Remember that you have to lead the birds to have them fly into your shot pattern. Also do yourself a favor and start with better shells. If your using cheap [censored] Walmart loads your percentages will go down. If shooting a 12 gauge looked for 3 1/2 frames of powder and 1 1/8 of shot minimum. #8’s will also put a few more pellets in the air.

first it doesn't sound like you are drinking enough. Second O/U are for rich folks with dogs. You need a semiauto and relax and have fun. Dove hunting is more about the experience that matters. OH and you MUST have some OK Moonshine.

^^^^^ what lee said. Rio Grande loads are what I like. Know your chokes. Some O/Us let you switch barrels with a switch, modified or full choke for long shots, improved cylinder for close shots.

Be sure to follow thru! It is actually a bit easier with an O/U. Choke first barrel improved cylinder and second modified. Keep both eyes open *. Don't aim....just point and pull trigger while swinging thru...it's not a rifle
*Might need to check which is your dominant eye.

Thanks for the advice guys . I’ll try the can thing as they are readily available . I don’t have a clue what shells I got I think there Winchester x bird/clay something like that .the over under pretty much fell in my lap so I jumped on it . I’d prefer like a remi 870 or some semi auto but shooting what I got for now . All and all It’s just fun to get out with friends have a few cold ones enjoy the scenery and if your lucky take a few home . And idk how the hell yall was out there drinking moonshine trying to dove hunt I’m not even that crazy
