Anyone know how much they took in and paid out cash?

I see they had 215 pros and paid 40 places.

Thats about a 1 to 5 payout which is pretty common in most tournaments.

They've always paid out the 40 spots if they reach a full field. Now what changes is the payout will be slightly higher for each spot over 200.

Knowing that information makes even less sense to me why they're running volunteer kids all the way down the hill to release fish out of mesh bags at weigh-in each day.
hmmm

What does the payout have to do with the volunteer kids running fish?

You would just think with that kind of margin they could buy/rent/borrow a fish care tank to be manned by knowledgeable people for when the fish come off stage. Fizz what needs to be fizzed, provide them with oxygenated water for awhile, skim off the floaters to filet and donate. That's all. I'm not the guy to get upset by a few fish dying- I just think it was really poorly ran in terms of fish care.

I agree it sounds poorly run. But they are in business to make money. If they can get people to volunteer to walk fish to the lake. Then they make more money.

They're not running them down to release them in the lake, they are taking them down to the live release boat with all of features you mentioned.

Thank you for the clarification!

"Only" got $50,000. For fishing. Call me old school (at 32), but that is a pretty decent 4 days of work. I would say winning $50k doing a hobby is pretty good.

I still say “only” $50k, unless you’re winning 4-5 tournaments a year....

It's only a good cast if you catch a fish...
