Mepps Master and Double Dee joined me from noon to 6pm. We only fished 4 structures (Cloud , Sun, Wolf, holiday humps) and all were LOADED with fish except holiday. But getting them to bite was quite challenging. I will let DC detail on what he/we had to do to entice them to bite. Total was 104 fish after many casts and fun workout day, play day to fake them and make them bite ! LOL. Sandies were huge with many measured 16" and i tied my PB with a whopper sandie measured 17.25 inch, caught on a mepps #4. Condition was clear blue skies and 0 to 5 mph North wind. Catching depth 11 fow to 15 fow. DD and I had huge "lake record" fish pulling drags but broke off. DOH! Here are the fun day report pics. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2020/09/full-11240-66469-20200912_160138.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2020/09/full-11240-66470-20200912_120716.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2020/09/full-11240-66471-20200912_141030.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2020/09/full-11240-66472-20200913_061636.jpg)

Tood is right - even though side-scan showed plenty of fish at multiple locations - getting them to bite took all the finesse we could muster. Normally, when there are a lot of fish showing I can catch them readily with either a #4 Mepps or a #2. But neither was the sure thing yesterday. I did best on a #2 using the method in my video, but fish were hesitant. It took concentration on the technique, and you'ld catch several and then they stopped. Part of the problem was that the fish were constantly on the move, and we repeatedly had to move to stay on them. So, it wasn't clear if you were not catching them because they moved or because of your technique. It kept us guessing and switching back and forth between #4 and #2 Mepps. Using a #4 I had best results keeping the bait within 2 to 3 turns of the reel from the bottom. Then sometimes a smooth start worked best and sometimes a sudden start worked best. So, for each school of fish we marked, I'm trying 3 techniques and hoping fish don't move before we discover which works best for that school. I think fish are feeding on a mixture of small and large shad, which probably confuses them as much as it does us.
Anyhow, we kept at it and ended up with a lot of really good white bass caught. It was a wonderful weather day and a lot of fun. In the last couple of hours ScottyP and his Mrs joined the party. Also, we met another TFFer and his Mrs early in the day at Cloud Point. It always adds to the day meeting or seeing fellow TFFers out on the lake. Thanks to Todd for hosting us.

Looks like a great day !!! I also found fish not wanting to bite on Cedar Creek as well, even though they were showing on the finder. Glad you guys had a great time. Thanks for the report

Great report Todd!!
Can i get more information on the Mepps? When I shop on line I dont see just a #2 or #4. I see different hook sizes, weights, and blade sizes. Can I get a model number or the more details please.

Sean, yeah the labels can be confusing. I get my mepps at Van Dam Warehouse cuz it's cheaper than BPS. B4 for mepps #4 and B2 for #2. Get the plain aglia silver, avoid the rest. Free shipping over $50. If they are short on silver, add gold to get to $50. Van Damage! <---------
