A little hurt in the pocketbook and that will end the foolishness

I believe she fined over 600 protesters on the Margaret Hunt Hill bridge then the city manager dropped all the fines.

They need to promote from within and keep the damned city council out of it. There are some very qualified, capable candidates from within who understand the job's challenges much more than some "hero" from another city.

Median salary for Dallas chief is $108,000. Pretty miserable salary for that kind of responsibility. I think it tops out around 120k.

She was paid $225,000 her first year, doubt it went down from there.

Add in a worthless DA that is refusing to press charges on a lot of property crimes.

City manager runs the show. He’s the one that let the law breaking protesters go from the bridge

The core of the problem, as previously mentioned, is the over powered city council and the underpowered mayor and police chief. Dallas is a huge city and is still run like a 30000 population town. When your population numbers and square mileage get large, you need a stronger centralized government. The USA learned this in its first six years of existence with the transition from the original Articles of Confederation (1781) to the Constitution eight years later (1789)
Dallas is going on 200 years old and still hasn’t learned this lesson

The history of the city council and some of its members is shameful
They need stronger oversight and less power or nothing will change.
