O7 225zx with an 06 hpdi Vmax. First question is would anyone know why the engine would bog down to a limp mode only when full throttle getting on plane and the temperature light comes on as well. As soon as I let off and gradually get on plane there is no problem. Motor is peeing fine and water pressure is between 15 to 18 ish. Motor does not do this any other time even at wot going down the lake. Only to get on plane. My other issue is my boat just started taking on water. Enough that the auto bulge pump kicks on about once an hour. Gonna order a new drain plug to see if that helps but thought maybe someone has had these same issues and could give me some suggestions . Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for any input or ideas.

The engine problems could be a few things. Burnt out exhaust tuner, bad neutral safety switch, VST running out of fuel due to low pressure fuel pumps or filters. The leak in the boat is probably a froze livewell pump or bilge pump. I'd get that engine into a good mechanic before you blow it.

I can't speak to the engine problems, but I agree that the water issue has to do with either a live well pump or the bilge pump. Hose clamp issues are usually the problem. My bilge pump comes on about every 20 minutes, its a hose thing and I have to take everything out to get to the pumps. Pain in the butt.

I forgot to mention I don’t use my live wells and I keep them in the closed position and I’m getting a couple of inches of water in them. Is this normal? If my pump was cracked or had a loose hose would this leak water into the boat if they are not being used?

Sounds like your remote livewell actuator valve and quick disconnects. Pain to get to, but super easy to install. Replace both and test. There are several valves out there,if you have quick disconnects it takes a different type with o rings. There about $35. You will save about $250 in labor

When the boat is dry, put the plug in and fill the hull with some water. Look for the leak. Probably one of the valves for the live well. As for the engine, if you don't want to take it to a shop, replace the fuel filters and test. If that doesn't work tame to mechanic.

this may sound crazy but if you don't have a plug in the overflow outlet in your live well you will get a couple of inches of water when backing up such as backing off the trailer at launch. i also seldom use my live wells and this what i have to do to keep them dry. good luck.

From what I've read, most of the time an HPDI bogs down from a clogged VST filter. Though, I had an '02 that did the same thing. Mine had a lot of carbon build up and mechanic was able to revive the motor with power tune. Lasted about a year before it started bogging down again.

Check your fuel lines and make sure they are not cracking from the ethanol gas. Might need the new lines also check VST filter as stated above.

I have changed all filters in the fuel system so I’m thinking this will be related to the temp alarm going off but with these motors anything could be possible
